Today I was inspired by Sesame Street! Me and the two kiddos decided we were going to make Cookie Monster and Elmo out of toilet paper rolls! It really wasn't hard to do but of course I had to free-draw the characters faces so that's what took the longest. The whole time the kids were super excited to help in any way they could. I would recommend this project for 4-6 year olds since my two year old wanted to squish them the whole time :) I think these would be a perfect kids crafts for birthday parties or an afternoon art project! Have fun!

First start with a piece of blue paper and an empty toilet paper roll. Put glue all over the paper and roll it up so the entire roll is covered.

Next, find a cookie monster picture to copy off of and try to copy it! I drew it with pencil first then went over it with black marker. I cut out two white circles for the eyes and glued them on. Be careful cutting around Cookie Monster's face, it's tricky with his furry face!

I then cut out two feet for him, folded a little piece on the end and taped them inside the roll.

The arms! I cut out big hands for Cookie Monster and glued them to his sides. Make sure you hold it for at least 30-45 seconds to dry.

Taa-daa! I cut a cookie out of tan paper and drew chocolate chips on it with brown marker.

I copied a picture online of Elmo to see what his face looked like. I glued two white circles for the eyes as well.

I then added a little orange oval for a nose out of construction paper and colored the mouth in!

Repeat the steps from the Cookie Monster toilet paper roll. You can then decide how you want your Elmo's feet and arms to look. I liked mine to look happy and waving at you!

Best friends forever! The kids had a blast playing with these crafts all afternoon! Just know that they get easily bent and ripped with tons of play :)
